Type of Rainfall |
Explanation |
|
Relief Rainfall forms where moist air is forced to
rise over mountains or hills. As the air rises it begins to cool and
condenses. As the water vapour condenses back to water droplets, clouds
are formed. As the clouds grow bigger it starts to rain. |
|
Convectional rainfall forms due too heating of the ground
by the sun. As the air close to the ground is heated it becomes lighter
and begins to rise. When the air rises it begins to cool and condense.
As the water vapour condenses back to water droplets, clouds are formed.
As the clouds grow bigger it starts to rain. |
 |
Frontal rainfall occurs where warm air meets cold air.
The warm air is lighter than cold air and it is therefore forced to rise
above it. As the air rises it begins to cool and condense. As the
water vapour condenses back to water droplets, clouds are formed. As the
clouds grow bigger it starts to rain. |
