Water
is a powerful force in shaping the landscape. As it passes over the
surface it erodes it, gradually wearing it away. The eroded material is
then carried by the river and transported further downstream. As the river
continues to pass downstream it changes the landscape through the
processes of erosion, transport and deposition creating distinctive
features such as waterfalls and meanders. As part of this unit, you will
have chance to visit the River Nene to explore the ways in which rivers
operate. You will also be considering the potential hazards posed by
rivers when they are in flood.
