Shaduf - irrigation device - a long pole with a bucket on one end and a heavy weight on the other (weight allows the full bucket to be swung round to the irrigation channel). Shanty Town - an area of very poor housing, lacking electricity, water supply and sewage system Silt - fine soil left after a river floods |
