The Philippines hit by Devastating Mudslide (Friday 17th Feb 2006)Heavy rains in the Philippines have resulted in an entire village being engulfed by a devastating mudslide. The village of Guinsaugon, in the town of St Bernard on the southern part of Leyte, were swamped by the mudslide. The area had experienced heavy rainfall, with 200cm falling in just 10 days. There were also reports of a minor earthquake in the area on the Friday morning. Around 1,800 people are feared dead as rescue efforts reach the third day.
