RE: IVO ISLAND HAZARD RESEARCH

Dear Colleague,

As you are aware, Ivo Island lies on a major plate boundary. Our tectonic experts have recently detected signs of increased tectonic activity in this area and have warned of the possible risk of a major earthquake on or near Ivo Island.

As representatives of the Ivo Island Research team, we would like you to prepare a detailed report to the Island's government based on this potential hazard, providing details of the possible effects of an earthquake and recommendations for minimising damage to the Island's people and resources in the event of such a disaster.

Your report will need to contain the following information:

1. A brief explanation to the government explaining why Ivo Island is likely to be at risk from an earthquake considering its location over a major plate boundary.

2. A description of what you believe the main effects of an earthquake on the island would be.

3. Provide recommendations for precautions to be taken to minimise earthquake damage on the island and a possible relief plan in the event of such a disaster.

Good Luck!
