| The new bridge relieved congestion
in the CBD where employment land changed to retail and housing. The
new road system allowed further allocation on agricultural land to the
north/north-west of town for housing and to the north-east for
employment use. Additionally, the new rosd network provided better
access for commercial, residential and recreational activities and
links to major trunk roads. |
| The economically
active population exceeds the no. of jobs indicating a larger
percentage commuting elsewhere. |
| Tourism grew and
historic sights inside the CBD were promoted. |
